This database is a basic analysis and evaluation tool for measuring scientific research performance and tracking scientific development trends launched by the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) in the United States in 2001. It is based on the ISI Citation Index Database (SCIE/SSCI) for over 7,000 academics worldwide. It is a database of econometric analysis established by more than 9 million records of journals. Through this database, international scientific literature can be systematically and specifically analyzed to understand the development and impact of some well-known scientists, research institutions (or universities), national (or regional) and academic journals in a certain subject area. Managers can also use this resource to find basic data that influences decision analysis; they can analyze scientific research performance of research institutions, countries, and journals; track research development trends in natural sciences and social sciences; and analyze and evaluate the ability of researchers and competitors. The determination of the output and influence of scientific research results in a particular field of study; further allowing the majority of scientific researchers to understand the main areas of their respective scientific research and their similarities and differences with international major fields. Using this database, researchers can analyze the main areas, research hotspots and development trends of international scientific research in the past decade.
