The Faculty of 1000 (F1000) is a secondary bibliographic database that provides evaluation services for life sciences and medical researchers. It is a new type of online research aid published by the British Faculty of 1000 Ltd. Its original idea is to respond to the rapid expansion of the number of life sciences and biomedical papers, and to conduct peer review and screening through experts' reading, rating, and recommendation after the publication of the paper, so that researchers can obtain more in a limited time. The papers published by the researchers were collected by the Faculty of 1000 and were recommended by the researchers for their high recognition. The F1000 database includes F1000 assessment and rankings, F1000 experts, F1000 reports, F1000 posters:
1. Evaluation and Ranking of F1000 First, the papers included in PubMed and other databases are evaluated and excellent papers are recommended. Only a few outstanding papers are recommended. The participating assessment experts select one of the three grades of good, very good and exceptional to score the papers, and write comments on the academic content of the paper from aspects of innovation, importance, rationality, methodology, and so on. The evaluation itself also has high academic value. Because the evaluation is a review of the research content from the perspective of peer experts, the reader can quickly grasp the research content, innovation, and inadequacies of the paper.
2. The F1000 experts consist of about 10,000 professionals in life sciences and biomedicines around the world to ensure the objectivity and authority of the evaluation.
3. The F1000 report provides a unique peer review report on biological and medical content. Completed independently or collaboratively by F1000 experts, it covers the latest developments in biology and medicine.
4. The F1000 poster is a knowledge base for open access to conference posters in life sciences and medicine.
